Prologue Review: Deadend Pheromone Trail No. 1
February 25, 2008 by cutter
I just got up and have been trying to get twitter to work on my website. It won’t work (long story), but the wordpress people have this new theme “Prologue” as an alternative. The idea is to write short messages and let people keep in touch by tweeting.
The prologue theme is a great concept, but you have to be a user of the blog in question to post messages. It’s for group blogs. Prologue works well as a web communication device, where you leave short messages for your coworkers, so they can get an update on where you are, where you’re going, when you’ll be back, etc. If you’re a person who’s twittering and fluttering about, and you always needing to keep in touch with other people (like every minute of the day) then Prologue would work fine for you.
I must say, however, that I like the style very much. The minimalist text box at the top of the outer shell of the blog is calls you to write. There are no word processing functions, and above the box, in the spirit of twitter, there’s a single question: “Hi, Watcha up to?”
For Writing for Ants, it’s a trail not worth following, but for group blogs, that’s another story. . . .
